Welcome to Project Bhakti – One of the three pillars of VIDHYALAYA, hosted by Hindu Advisory Board, to ensure Hindu knowledge is made available to everyone at every age level.
Project Bhakti was established in 2001 by Hindu Endowments Board and was housed at several centres. Its aim was primarily to inculcate the Hindu values and moral teachings through stories, enactment, games and other inspirational means.
In addition, the sessions provide a platform for children to appreciate the diverse Hindu culture through participation. The aim is to expose the young mind to our rich culture in their formative years.
Vidyarambham is one of the sixteen Hindu samskaras (sacraments) where it marks the commencement of learning. Hindu scriptures reserves Vidya to the learning of dharma alone and not any other worldly skills. Such learning should start from young. Project Bhakti is centred upon character building under proper tutelage and guidance to develop noble minds. The teachers are skilled and experienced and matured to handle youngsters from 5 years old to 16 years old youths.
The sessions will be held at two locations. The main centre will be at Ramakrishna Mission at Bartley Road. The air-conditioned classes are housed at the Wings Counselling Centre. The other will be at the newly consecrated Sri Siva Krishna Temple in Marsiling Rise. This location will focus on families staying in the North, including Sembawang, Woodlands, Yishun and Marsiling.
Classes will be held on 12 Sunday mornings for
every semester. There will be 2 semesters every
year. Parents can enlist their child / children at any one of the centres. However for continuity, we encourage the child to go through the full program without any disruptions. Each enlisted child will be clustered according to their age group.
The text book modules that will be used for the class can be found at COURSES. In addition to the modules other disciplines like Hindu art, music and play will be also included in one of the classes in a semester.
Project Bhakti is conducted on voluntary basis by volunteer teachers. The fees collected are purely for administrative charges and does not curtail the total cost burden. The focus is on the children and everyone including the teachers, parents and institution play a crucial role in ensuring the child receives the full benefit through this program. This is a comprehensive program to inspire young minds in Hinduism.
Engagement With Parents
Whilst the children are in the class, parents will have the opportunity for open discussion sessions to understand Hinduism and share some common issues and best practices.
